Carrier Bearing Shim

Upon inspecting the carrier bearing on my 97 F250 CC 4x4 I found that the bearing was good, however there was a lot of movement in the rubber housing.

Rather than replace the entire bearing, I made a shim to remove the excess play.

Basically I took two different thickness of steel, the thinner being the flanges and the thicker being the actual shim, and welded them together to make the shim.  Drilled matching holes in the flanges and installed.  It removed all the play in the rubber bearing mount and eliminated a minor vibration I had at highway speeds.
